CHASING THE DEVIL/LOOKING FOR THE 'HAPS...PART 2

So I got a little sidetracked again with work, so here's the last of the pix I'm going to post from my little road trip to Estellville. We had a bunch more but they're pretty much just different angles of the same shots, so....But there was also a little veterans memorial cemetery in the park as well, really cool, yet totally out in left field for it to be there.

At the back portion of the park there was this large lake, and leading out onto it you would walk on this floating dock. The whole time I was there I was reminded of the lake of ooze from creepshow. But it was really cool, very quiet and serene. Karen and I were both in awe at how quiet it all was, and how pretty it looked. Very cool, but really creepy. I tried to take a picture of this thing that was swimming around but it didn't want to some out right on the camera (I need a better camera). We think it was either a turtle or a snake, it was hard to see into the murky water.

Of course there were chuckles to be had at this one. Back at where the glass factory was there was the ruins of this little building, The Pot House. It was very tiny, like the size of a shed really. They definitely had some crazy small buildings back in the day. Kinda neat though.

Spanning a portion of the woods over where there should have been a little stream was this bridge. It ran from the road you drove on around the park to a little picnic/playground area. I decided to run on out and raise up some horns(yeah i'm a dork!)
And finally, this was a little area on our way out of the park, and if I had the proper clothing and time I so would have went exploring cuz out of the whole park if there was the jersey devil to be found, it would have been here! From what we were able to come across this was the only area that gave off any 'vibes', nothing crazy really, just one of those things that prod at the back of your mind and get the hairs to kinds tingle on the back of your neck.

So it was a really cool place to check out. We're going to go out on another trip sometime soon. Just have to get the time away from housework and yardwork to go. So I'll post again with those when we do. In the meantime I'm going to work on getting some artwork done to post. Oh and BTW, if you haven't seen Iron man get the hell offa your asses and go. For serious, the movie kicked total ass. I was never a fan of Iron Man, he just didn't hold me interest no matter how much I tried, but they nailed this movie something fierce. I wanna go see it again this weekend, but doubt I'll be able to. So yeah do it, now. Stop reading and go!!!!

Peas out!

CHASING THE DEVIL/LOOKING FOR THE 'HAPS...PART 1!!

Ok so a couple of weekends ago(yeah I'm a little behind on posting these!!), my girlfriend and I went for a road trip to the pinelands of dirty Jersey here. We went to the town that Todd and Craig had their Perhapanauts Annual take place where they fought the Jersey Devil, Estellville.(Which was a tip of the hat to myself, being that my last name is Estelle-Thanks Todd, you rule!!!) It was only like an hour from my house so it wasn't too bad of a trip, even though we still got lost getting there. Even though it was rainy and gloomy(perfect weather for this kind of a trip), it was good we didn't go at night, as this isn't the kind of area you want to be lost in!! We took a ton of pix so I'm going to split this into 2 parts, then hopefully I'll have some drewings to post. Works been crazy and the weekends have gone to doing yard work, so I'm behind, even though I've been itching to draw lately. I still have a story I'm working on of the 'Haps that will get posted as well. Maybe I'll do it as like couple of days of the week kind of cliffhanger-type story, where each post will be a continuation of the first in cliffhanger form-Does that sound like a cool idea? Lemme know....now onto the tour:

Estellville isn't much of a town, kind of more of a 'place'. There was this park there, called Estell Manor, but we didn't find much of a town proper. So this is where we spent the time 'hunting' hehe.....

In the park were the ruins of an old glass factory, pretty much the only thing that went on in the area, back in the late 1800's. The pix are better seen enlarged as there are certain details you can't make out otherwise....

This is my ugly mug, all 'artsy-photo', these are the ruins of the Melting Furnace area of the glass factory. It was really cool though to think that this was here, but never stayed preserved. Maybe the Devil killed them all? Mwahahahahaha!!! Ok for serious now.....

The tourist info sign for the Melting Furnace.......

And the last pic for this post is The other side of the Melting Furnace ruins, with Karen(my gf), I told her to look scared, and while she does, she also looks like she's saying, "WTF you taking my picture for?!" haha.....yeah so it was a pretty cool day trip, I wish we had had a little better weather, as I would have liked to looked around the woods more, that and I left the OFF! at home!! I'll post the last set over the weekend!

Peas out,

Mike
