UP YOURS 'WE LOVE THE 80's'....LATER 90'S STUFF

I love those VH1 we love the 80's shows. they had some great and funny stuff that just show how much cheese and craziness there was in that era. Now mind you, I was born in 75 but the 80's were some of my favorite years, especially where cartoons were concerned. I drew the above sketch of Lion-o 2 years ago while watching the series on dvd. It's just a quicky, but I love how it came out. This post is picture heavy cuz I'm trying to crank these out. I had to put in a ceiling fan yesterday and it took frikkin forever! Boo hoo me.

This pic was done later in the 90's, not sure of the exact year but I'd say maybe 96-ish as a ball park. The knight came out looking old as I went too much with the face wrinkles, and can you tell he's wearing a cape? haha....And the demon in the background was just a doodle mostly.

This pic I did for the autographs page for the 96 graduating class at DeVry where I was going to school at the time. I was trying to do it all manga style, but it still came out pretty good. Everyone loved it though.

This was a doodle trying to draw Lobo, Bisley style. Yeah we'll leave it at that, Gawd I hate hair! And yeah that's a jacked dude giving the finger to the left.

While I was heavy into Anime at this time, I can't draw it for shit. As simple as it looks, it's a tough style to nail. But here's a try anyways.

And this was an attempt and having a bunch of people falling off of a building, and I was trying to do the shadow heavy Mignola-ish thing with it. As it's unfinished you can tell how I felt about where it was heading.

That's all for this one. I'll post the rest of what I have next time, probably like Thursday or Friday. It's going to be crazy week. So it might even be Friday. See ya all then!

Yeah, that robot chicken floods the memory box, doesn't it?

I dug Thundercats and the rest, but Bionic 6, and Galaxy Rangers always had me anticipating the next episode for some reason...

Gotta say, I dig the anime stuff...I find it darn tough to draw out as well...but anime saved me from being a Jim Lee clone...thank you Vampire Hunter D!!!

Well I think when we're little like say 5 we're just beginning to understand cartoons - follow plots and not watch them for just the pretty colors. And there was a lot of awe to be had with those 80s style cartoons. We used to get Boomerang where we lived before. Its was great sharing all the cartoons I loved as a kid with my daughter.

todd!-yeah i haven't seen the episode 2 ep with lion-o, but i have seen the one from season 1 one he lives in a trailer with cheetara and they have like 9 million kittens. thanks for swingin in again!

McGill-Thanks-glad you liked my attampts haha....Yeah like I had posted, if it wasn't for fantasy stuff and anime, I would've turned into a 90's clone as well. Vampire Hunter D rawks! I have a D book that's got all art by Yoshitaka Amano that just kicks my ass!

Rene-I wish I had Boomerang! That channel rocked. They used to show Pirates of Dark Water which was my fave show!

Unfortunately not all shows end up standing up these days. I bought He-Man and while I always, and still do, loved the character models, they were some cheesy to sucky episodes in there. Thundercats holds up good though. As I buy things on dvd though, I tend to get disappointed to some degree.
