Okay so I'm finally getting the courage to post something. I know it kinda ruins the final product and all, but I needed to get this out there cuz it's killing me not to. So this here's my piece for the 'Haps drawing jam. It's of Merrow and it's been a TOTAL pain to do, cuz I suck at women and water, as in the upshooting spout, is not my strong point.(The pics work best blown up)
So this is my rough I'm working from, I decided to have her frolicking as water nymphs are wont to do by the light of the moon. I also wanted to try my hand at water serpents so this worked out nicely. So I decided to draw them up kinda proper really fast. So here they are:
And finally this is my(hopefully) final rough, there's a little more to the left but my scanner cut it off, just a little more to the lake shore, bushes and moon. I'm trying to figure out if I'm shooting myself in the foot, cuz without doing it as colors, a night scene on a lake is a real chore. Alot of blacks and shadows and I'm just not that good, especially when I'm trying to get this done and fast cuz I'm not going to have much free time before the deadline(Damn you Todd!). It still needs work, and I'm not 100% happy with Merrow, but dammit I'm loving the serpents, moreso in the side pics I drew up. If I had photoshop, a decent scanner and a light box I'd probably have this frikkin thing done by now, but no, I have to still be stuck in the stone age of art hahahaha! Alright peas out!

Overall, its pretty cool....
For the water (and I dunno if oyu want me to comment on it-but here it goes), I would add rings around where the serpents are surfacing, and to take advantage of cool water rings forming around them (and when I say water rings, I mean the ripples that form), have them spiral up and around the spout thats holding the perhapa-nymph...and for nighttime on the water, just heavily(sp?) darken in the lines you already have...btw, I dig the serpants...pretty awesome!
Least you got a scanner that works...I'm going to have to talk someone into scanning this stuff for me, or does a copy place scan stuf and read to disc as well?

yeah there's a bit more i need to work on, and the water effects are where it's at. i totally didn't think of adding rings going up the spout, thanks! that's a great idea, and i'll try to add more rings around the serpents as well. just hope i can pull it off. i'm having trouble trying to do the top of the spout where merrow is standing. we'll see how it all goes!
are you working on a piece at all as well?
I have handfuls of perhapanauts drawings, but both scanners are broke. So I have been hitting the sofa, digging for spare change and looking to friends who have scanners (oddly, none of them do...just copiers).
I will get them on there though...lets hope for more spare couch change...;)
was thinking about the water she is standing on, and googled the heck out of spouts, water, etc...could not find what you are looking for, but imagine a flower with multiple-sized pedals....made out of water...add the heck out of droplet as well (thats what I would do...;) )...
yeah i was trying to do that too, and came up with the same nothing haha. I'm just going to wing it, maybe look thru some more comics maybe, and just get it done. wish i had come up with the idea a LITTLE sooner than a week before the deadline ha!
This looks very nice. And you picked the character Lexie wanted to draw. Now that her party is out of the way.. and she's on Easter break for a few days I probably ought to remind her.
