CHASING THE DEVIL/LOOKING FOR THE 'HAPS...PART 1!!

Ok so a couple of weekends ago(yeah I'm a little behind on posting these!!), my girlfriend and I went for a road trip to the pinelands of dirty Jersey here. We went to the town that Todd and Craig had their Perhapanauts Annual take place where they fought the Jersey Devil, Estellville.(Which was a tip of the hat to myself, being that my last name is Estelle-Thanks Todd, you rule!!!) It was only like an hour from my house so it wasn't too bad of a trip, even though we still got lost getting there. Even though it was rainy and gloomy(perfect weather for this kind of a trip), it was good we didn't go at night, as this isn't the kind of area you want to be lost in!! We took a ton of pix so I'm going to split this into 2 parts, then hopefully I'll have some drewings to post. Works been crazy and the weekends have gone to doing yard work, so I'm behind, even though I've been itching to draw lately. I still have a story I'm working on of the 'Haps that will get posted as well. Maybe I'll do it as like couple of days of the week kind of cliffhanger-type story, where each post will be a continuation of the first in cliffhanger form-Does that sound like a cool idea? Lemme know....now onto the tour:

Estellville isn't much of a town, kind of more of a 'place'. There was this park there, called Estell Manor, but we didn't find much of a town proper. So this is where we spent the time 'hunting' hehe.....

In the park were the ruins of an old glass factory, pretty much the only thing that went on in the area, back in the late 1800's. The pix are better seen enlarged as there are certain details you can't make out otherwise....

This is my ugly mug, all 'artsy-photo', these are the ruins of the Melting Furnace area of the glass factory. It was really cool though to think that this was here, but never stayed preserved. Maybe the Devil killed them all? Mwahahahahaha!!! Ok for serious now.....

The tourist info sign for the Melting Furnace.......

And the last pic for this post is The other side of the Melting Furnace ruins, with Karen(my gf), I told her to look scared, and while she does, she also looks like she's saying, "WTF you taking my picture for?!" haha.....yeah so it was a pretty cool day trip, I wish we had had a little better weather, as I would have liked to looked around the woods more, that and I left the OFF! at home!! I'll post the last set over the weekend!

Peas out,

Mike

Very cool. Makes me wonder what kinda haunted areas we've got in the Richmond area? The kinda places you can take your wife and kid with minimal risk of demonic possession or dismemberment. Have to do some snooping.

Yeah, a friend of my buddy's makes costumes and props for Gwar. Every time I'm supposed to finally meet the bastard something comes up.

And, yeah, I'm pretty sure I've seen a Weird Virginia at Barnes & Noble now that you mention it. I need something new to read as it is, so it might warrant a stop on the way home tonight.
